Melissa Dawn Stumpf, 33, of Flat Rock, died Friday, January 23, at her home. Born in Marietta, GA, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Orrell and Nancy Perry Orrell of Hendersonville. A stay at home mom, she had lived in Palm Beach, FL, Tempe, AZ, Syracuse, NY and York, PA prior to moving to Henderson County in 1997.

Melissa is survived, in addition to her mother, by her husband of 11 years, Gary P. Stumpf; 3 daughters, Abby (age 17), Emily (age 11) and Katie (age 9) Stumpf, all of Flat Rock; her sister, Mandolyn Orrell of Greenville, SC; step-sister Holly Orrell of Flat Rock; 2 brothers, James A. Orrell of Indianapolis, IN and Edward S. Orrell and his wife Stacy of Hendersonville; maternal grandmother, Hazel Perry of Spotsylvania, VA; maternal aunt, Patti Perry of Spotsylvania, VA and 4 nieces, Riley Gaddy and Cadence, Whitney and Camden Orrell, all of Hendersonville.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 30, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, January 29 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Melissa Stumpf Memorial Fund, for the future of her children, C/O BB&T, 100 Dana Rd. Hendersonville, NC 28792.
