Myrtle Thompson Ponder, 76 of Hendersonville, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Elizabeth House.

A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Amanda Thompson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ponder, four sisters, and five brothers.

Myrtle was a member of Dana Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Dale Ponder and his wife Connie of Swannanoa; three grandchildren, Jeremy Ponder of Georgia, Brittany & Cassandra Ponder both of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Isaiah & Kaidin; a sister, Hazel Browning and her husband John of Saluda; a brother, Hubert Thompson and his wife Margaret of Hendersonville; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dan Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The following will serve as pallbearers: Frank Thompson, Floyd Thompson, Terry Walker, Charles Ballard, Brian Pipkins, and Jimmy Womack.

Dale: We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom Growing up next door to her and having bible study at her house will always be a special memory for me. I know she will be missed. The Lord will hold her safe in his arms now. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers.
