Otis Gaynard Morgan, 95, of Blantyre went home to be with the Lord peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 30, 2021 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Transylvania County, he was a son of the Otis J. and Ada Morgan. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings.

Gaynard graduated as Salutatorian from Etowah School and went on to proudly serve as a B-17 armored gunner in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Ecusta in 1988 as the staff senior accountant following 42 years of service. He enjoyed reading, gardening and especially loved painting landscape art. He could often be found tracking his investments and balancing his checkbook to the penny.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Pat Morgan; children, Ralph Morgan (Robin) and Deborah Buckner (Frank); grandchildren, Chris Morgan (Jessica), Monica Howard (Josh), Melissa Morgan, Kyle West (Jessica), Jonathan Morrow (Stephanie) and Noah Buckner; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with Pastor Thomas Glenn officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

I enjoyed working with Gaynard many years ago at Ecusta. He was a true gentleman, with a strong work ethic and a dry sense of humor. I learned a lot from him. Sending my condolences to his family.
