Randall D. ìRandyî McCreary, 63, of Asheville, formerly of Pekin, IL passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 following a long-term illness.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Honor Guard, He loved fishing and was an avid fan of NASCAR.

He was the son of the late Robert McCreary and Sally Bigga, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Wallace McCreary.

Survivors include his loving companion, Wanda Harvison; a son, Matthew McCreary and his wife Brooke; a granddaughter, Ava McCreary; three sisters, Vicki Corsso and her husband Tony, Roxanne Williams, Tammy Snyder and her husband Tom; several nieces and nephews and his extended family, Diane Rhodes, Becky Brogden and Kim Pace and their families.

Randy will be loved and missed by all who knew him. A service will be held at a later date.

Randy was my cousin, and I always remember he had a smile on his face everytime I saw him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to cut up. He was a great guy! Wanda, thanks for taking care of him and helping him thru this difficult time. Cookie

My sympathy to Wanda,Matt, Vikki, Tami, and Roxy….you knew him best. I am a cousin and we had many great moments with our Wallinger family….Christmas Eve’s stuck out in my mind…..Very fun. Randy always smiling and funny and a gentle person. May he find peace from the ALS in heaven.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. TO RANDY I LOVED YOU VERY MUCH AND WILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN SOME DAY. IF IT WAS NOT FOR RANDY I WOULD ON NEVER MEET MY BELOVED TONY, THEY WERE BEST FRIENDS BEFORE HE WENT TO VIETNAM, AND RANDY ASKED TONY TO CHECK IN AND TAKE CARE OF HIS MOM. RANDY WAS A SWEETHEART A VERY KIND AND GENTLE PERSON. THANKS WANDA FOR TAKING SUCH GOOD CARE OF HIM AND EASING HIS FEARS.
