Rem was born in Cambodia and survived the Cambodian Genocide before immigrating to the United States. She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rem conveyed her love through acts of service and strength. Without a doubt, she was the strongest in the family. She was meticulous in her crafts, a talented seamstress, and spent her free time creating art. Her smile was contagious to all of those around her and she was described by anyone she interacted with as a sweetheart.
Rem passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2023, at The Elizabeth House. She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers during the last chapter of her life. She was the last survivor of 8 siblings.
Rem is survived by her 4 children: Sinath (Chhoun), Syna (Yath), Syka (Bernard), and Synann; grandchildren, Sy (Dennis), Lisa (Shannon), Dan (Loren), Kevin, Emily, and 7 additional in Cambodia; great grandchildren, Dennis, Silas, Genevieve, and Juniper.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her three beloved sons.
Miss Rem was always so sweet when I walked into Cherry Springs. Her smile and sweet handshakes made me feel welcome. Praying God’s Blessings for her family.
