Rev. A. Walden Ruff, a loving husband, father, and devoted servant of God, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his residence in Flat Rock, North Carolina. He was born on November 06, 1957, in McDowell County, North Carolina. At the time of his passing, Rev. Ruff was 65 years old.
Throughout his life, Rev. Ruff dedicated himself to serving others. He spent many years in the emergency medical field, extending a helping hand to those in need during their most vulnerable moments. His compassion and expertise brought comfort to countless individuals and their families.
In addition to his work in the medical field, Rev. Ruff discovered a passion for creating beautiful woodwork and participating in various crafts shows. His talent and creativity were evident in every piece he crafted, leaving a lasting impression on all who admired his work.
Rev. Ruff’s impact extended beyond his professional endeavors. As a member of the Edneyville High School Class of 1976, he formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories that shaped his character. He treasured the bonds he created with his classmates and valued the lessons learned during his formative years.
Rev. Ruff will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death are his mother, Goldie Ruff; one brother, Clifton Ruff; and one sister, Ann Ruff Gilbert. He is survived by his father, Ernest Ruff, of Edneyville, North Carolina; his devoted wife of 45 years, Debbie Ruff; his daughter, Laura Ruff of Flat Rock, North Carolina; his son, Justin Ruff, and his wife, Tammy, of Fairview, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Preston, Clayton, Mindy, Alyssa, and Emily; two brothers, Robert Ruff of Edneyville, North Carolina, and Tommie Ruff, and his wife, Angela, of Sunny View, North Carolina; one sister, Connie Laughter, and her husband, Jeff, of Edneyville, North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to honor and celebrate Rev. A. Walden Ruff’s life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Pastor Dale Gilbert, Pastor Bryan Melton, Pastor Curtis Lanier and Walden’s son, Justin Ruff will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Rev. Ruff’s unwavering dedication to serving others and his commitment to his family will forever inspire those who knew him. May his memory continue to be a source of strength and inspiration for us all.
