Rev. Willard Rhodes, 82, of Hendersonville passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation.
ìStrike up the band, assemble the choir, sing a welcome song, another soldier has come homeî. On Saturday, November 21, 2009, Rev. Willard Rhodes completed his earthly journey only to be welcomed by friends and family that have gone ahead of him and the Savior he had introduced so many to. Upon his arrival, we are sure he was greeted by his daughter, Jan Rhodes Gravely, and son-in-law, Travis Lively, just to name a few.
A native of Henderson County, he faithfully ministered to many people in the community as a pastor of several churches in the area during over fifty years of service. Continuing his legacy are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Rhodes; daughters, Annette Lively of East Flat Rock, Lorie and Ricky Henderson of Dana; son, J R and Teresa Rhodes of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Angelique and Troy McMurray of Zirconia, Heth and Billie Lively of Zirconia, Autum Henderson of Dana, Jerred and Tiffany Henderson of East Flat Rock, Joe Kev Gravely of Saluda; great grandchildren, Josie Lively and Landen McMurray; along with his brothers and sisters as well as his many nieces and nephews and their children.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Living Water Baptist Church. The Reverends Mike Stewart and Carroll Poole will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at East Hendersonville Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
