Ricky Vernon King, known to his loved ones as Rick, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024, at his home in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Born on January 12, 1956, in Henderson County, North Carolina, Rick lived a fulfilling life dedicated to his work and cherished relationships. He was 67 years old at the time of his passing.
Rick’s career as an Apple Farmer brought him great joy and fulfillment. His dedication to his profession was evident to all who knew him. Through the years, he cultivated not only apples but also lasting friendships with those he encountered along the way.
Rick was a beloved son, having been preceded in death by his parents, Blaine King and Carolyn King. He also mourned the loss of his dear sister, Michelle Brunelle. Though their absence is deeply felt, Rick’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his surviving family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Shawn King Corhn, and her husband Glenn, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Rick also leaves behind two brothers, Steve King and his wife Gail, and David King and his wife Janet. His presence will be missed dearly by his four nieces, Shannon King, Allyson Warren, Taren Walker, and Molly Hill, as well as his five nephews, Brandon King, Josh King, Daniel Corhn, Jordan Brunelle, and Seth King.
To honor Rick’s life and legacy, a Memorial Service will be held on January 11, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be officiated by Dwayne Durham, a close friend of Rick’s. Friends and family members will gather together to share stories, memories, and their deep appreciation for the life that Rick lived.
While we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we remember Rick as a devoted brother, uncle, and friend. His unwavering dedication to his work and his loved ones leaves an indelible mark on our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and memories that will forever live on.
