ROBERT (BOB) GEORGE DENNETT, also known as Bubba by his loving grandsons, died Jan 30,2010, from a courageous battle of metastatic prostrate cancer, due to Agent Orange from his time in Vietnam, went peacefully to our gracious Lord above, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Horner Dennett, his mother Betty Staab Dennett, a sister Michelle Burnette , and his courageous nephew, Michael Gleason, who died in May 2003 while fighting in Northern Iraq.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Deborah Dennett, two gracious children, a son, “Big Guy” Robert George Dennett II (Amy), and his baby girl Lisa Ann Dennett (Mike); five grandsons, Daniel, Jr., Nicky, Christopher and Caleb; two sistersñn-law, Sandy Moore (Steve) and Diane MacKenzie (Bill). Three nephews, Stanford Moore, Timothy Gleason and Shane MacKenzie; and one niece, Shawna Kloepfer. Also his loving brother in arms, Joe and Linda Hyder and his special companion “Fritz”. Special thanks to Barb and Sally of Four Seasons Compassion for Life and his CNA, Yvette, who gave the greatest baths.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb 3, 2010, from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary. Burial will be held at a later date. The family requests no flowers, but memorials may be made to Bob’s favorite organization, the KOA Care Camps, 3416 Primm Lane, Birmingham, Al 35216.
