Ruby Heatherly ìMawmaw Rubyî, 91, of Tuxedo, went to be with her Savior Wednesday, November 19, 2014. She was born May 13th, 1923.
Let me tell you about Mawmaw Ruby. You might say that she is not your Mawmaw, but if you have talked to her for five minutes, saw her sweet smile or ate one of her biscuits, then she is your Mawmaw too. She was the matriarch of our family and our church, a true saint to everyone that knew her. She loved her family, her church and most of all she loved the Lord. If you talked to her she would tell you about Jesus and then she would feed you whether you were hungry or not.
She married Pawpaw Wilkie when she was fifteen and they built a family, a church and a way of life that is rare in todayís world. It was not about money, but about always being a family and loving one another through good times and bad times. They were true soul mates and even when they were old and gray they were still sweethearts. Pawpaw went home to be with the Lord in 2002 and I know he was in heaven waiting for her with a big smile on his face.
As her name suggests, she was a true gem. A ruby can withstand great stress and still add richness to all around it and the same is true about Mawmaw Ruby. Her family was her pride and joy and she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilkie Heatherly; her son, Charles Edison Heatherly; her grandchildren, Victor Beddingfield, Adam Bishop and Kirby Marion; her parents, Gurly and Lucinda Levi; her sister, Pauline; and her brother, Orval Levi.
She is survived by five children, Geraldine Heatherly, Junior and Peggy Heatherly, Marlou and Larry Bishop, Scotty and Judy Heatherly, Judy Ann and Bob Wilson; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, RL Levi and Leroy Levi; one sister, Geneva Gordon; and a furry friend named Baron.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday at Mtn. View Baptist Church in Tuxedo, conducted by Revs. Sherrill Moore and Sam Beddingfield. She will lie in repose 30 minutes before the service on Saturday. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, please forward donations in honor of Ruby Heatherly to the Home Mission Fund, Mtn. View Baptist Church, 458 Mtn. View Church Road, Zirconia, NC 28790.
Mawmaw Ruby went home to the Heaven she has been reading about in her Bible. She is happy there. I am certain of that. Jesus has our precious jewel by his side today, her name is Mawmaw Ruby. As she would say, ìI will be waiting on you thereî.
May the ìGod of all comfortî provide you and your family with peace and comfort during this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3:-7)
Memories are sweet of Ruby, she was a
dedicated bus rider at Upward Elementary School! She loved the children and she lived her love for the Lord! Her demeanor was ALWAYS one of caring for others with Christian love!
Aunt Ruby was a tremendous blessing to us with many wonderful memories. Thankful for the times that we were able to have conversations with her and rejoice in the Lord. William and I got to talk to her a while back and it was truly a blessing to get to reminisce with her about family. I think family was very important to her. I’m thankful that as a young child I got to see her shout and praise the Lord. That really makes an impact on your life to see someone that truly loves the Lord and not afraid to show it. Please know that we are praying for you all. May God give you comfort knowing she is in glory with her Saviour.
