Shirley Clouser Behley, 82, passed away peacefully after 5 days at the Elizabeth House on Sunday, March 15, surrounded by her family.

Her husband cared for her during her long struggle with a degenerative disease. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of George and Leola Clouser. Prior to moving to Kenmure in 1998, she lived in Winston-Salem, NC, Chicago, IL, Pittsburgh, PA (where she became a passionate Steelers fan), and Columbus, OH.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Warner; her three daughters, Lauryn Behley of Charlotte, Marcia Rodda, and son-in-law, Mark, also of Charlotte; and Kara Reynolds and son-in-law, Mark of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Elyse and Leah Reynolds.

Throughout her life, Shirley volunteered as leader/secretary/treasurer for numerous school and social organizations. She was one of the founding members of the Kenmure Newcomers and Neighbors group and produced their newsletter for two years. She was happiest dancing, playing golf and bocce, and socializing with her friends. Shirley was an avid games player, both with the Senior Friendship group and her family. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be a private service for her immediate family. A celebration of Shirleyís life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henderson County Habitat for Humanity.
