William “Roy” Sherman, 67, of East Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native and life-long resident of Henderson County, he was a son of Grace “Texie” Marshall Sherman and the late William Sherman.
After 38 years of dedicated service, he retired from Federal Paper Board / Shorewood Packaging.
He was owner of R.V. Tractor, Tools and Motorsports and was a member of Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joy Belle Jones; grandchildren, Emma, Hunter and Hawk Sherman and his mother and father in-law, Archie and Frances Waldrup.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Verlin Waldrup Sherman; a son, William David Sherman and his fiancÈ, Savannah; two brothers, Johnny Sherman and his wife Marilyn and Troy Sherman and his wife Frances all of East Flat Rock; a sister, Catherine McMinn of Flat Rock; five grandchildren, Autumn, Kasey, Pressley, Hyatt and Bayleigh Sherman and several nieces and nephews.
He was a loving son, husband, father and papaw who will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Anthony Craver and Rev. Allen Rash will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday at the church.
